Musical Theatre Workshop

The workshop staff is composed of child-centered professionals who take care to ensure that each student's potential is reached. Our resident directors, choreographers, costumers and vocal instructors work closely together to determine how best to tap your young actor's talents. The program also features guest instructors who work with the performers on a Musical Showcase which takes place one evening during the summer.

Classes meet primarily in buildings on the Chatham Fairgrounds, with a few rehearsals held at The Mac-Haydn Theatre. The historic and park-like setting of the fairgrounds is the perfect atmosphere for working on a show. However, the final performances are held at the Mac-Haydn. Resident artists handle lights and sound, and the atmosphere is totally professional.

The program serves young people ages 6-18. Participants are divided into classes based on age and level of experience.

Tuition: $450.00

For more information, contact workshop director Edgar Acevedo at workshop@fairpoint.net

Previous musical productions include The Pirates of Penzance, Wonderland, Walt Disney's Aladdin Jr., Dear Edwina Jr., and Seussical Jr.

Summer 2008 Schedule

All classes meet Monday through Thursday from July 7 through August 11.

Ages 6-9 meet from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. (until 2 p.m. on Thursday). Theater games, improvisation, singing, and dance sharpen and nourish the child's creativity while preparing the children for their production.

All other ages meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (until 2 p.m. on Thursday). Students receive a tailored dance program, and work closely with a vocal coach. The approach to improvisation and character development is professional.
